Just saw this on Apartment Therapy and while I'm not sure we'd do this on our own (admittedly ugly) dishwasher it was at least neat enough to throw in to the idea guide for future reference.
This 'faux stainless steel' finish is adhesive on one side and this retailers website points out it can have a wide range of uses beyond appliances--kitchen backslashes, trash cans, cabinets and such.
Maybe a little bit too Trading Spaces for a permenant solution but it could be of some use if you need a temporary makeover while you save up pennies for the real kitchen makeover down the road.

faux stainless? isn't that more like stain-ful?

We have a stainless steel fridge, microwave, and oven. While, yes, they are very pretty, I caution neat freaks out there about very hard-to-clean FINGERPRINTS. ugh.
Someone spilled a drink down the front of our fridge a while back and I can't do much to not see the "stain" either.
So pretty if you wear gloves 24/7 or don't care about grungy fingerprints. But not horribly practical for the neat-freak among us! Anyone have a good cleaning tip that's worked in this case???
