Whether you have built-in's or small bathrooms, you can stash your stuff.
One of the pro's of having an old house is that you might have a lovely built-in cabinet or two to store your things in. One of the con's of having an old house is that these built-in's, although beautiful, are not always as useful for storage as you would like. Old houses notoriously have small kitchens and bathrooms as well, so where do you put everything so that it looks neat and not like a pile of things behind a door?
Although not entirely new, I guess I was unaware of the different types and new ideas for storage available until I stumbled into the Knape & Vogt and Rev-A-Shelf booths at KBIS. All of a sudden, it was as if neatness fairies descended from the sky singing sweetly and my world suddenly became clearer, brighter, NEATER.
From Knape & Vogt:

From Rev-A-Shelf:

So many interesting solutions and I even considered how you could use some of the kitchen solutions for the bathroom if you had a vanity cabinet. I mean, THINK of all the hair products and make-up I could have fit into this thing when I was in high school. In the 80's. When big hair was really in.

I also thought that this drawer built around a sink's plumbing was rather clever for wringing out every inch of storage that you can. From QuakerMaid:

"But Jeannie! These products are for standard sized cabinets and my built-in's are hardly standard!" You cry. Or, let's just pretend you've said that.
No worries. Shelf Conversions offers custom made Glide Out shelves just for you. Instead of digging around in your cabinets for something, it comes out to YOU! Way to show your storage who is the alpha dog in your house, tough guy.

yeaaaah.. we actually have that storage space just in front/under of our sink for keeping your dish scrubbing sponge and whatnot. I've never used it for fear of MILDEW! ugh.

These Glide-Out shelves look great, my morther has them in Richmond, Virginia and she says it was the best thing she EVER DID!
Pull-Out Shelves are the best thing for cabinet organization and storage solution.
I highly reccomend them and I wish there was a Shelf Conversions dealer near me.
