KBIS Booth Tour: Electrolux/Frigidaire

Category: KBIS 2006

Electrolux and Frigidaire's booth presented both practical and whimsical innovations for the most active rooms in the home.

The Electrolux/Fridigaire booth at KBIS 2006 focused almost exclusively on displays that put their kitchen and laundry products in context, while also suggesting some innovations that reflect changes in how people are changing the use of these well trafficked rooms.

In the kitchen, they suggested minor refinements (and a more than modest use of stainless steel). I really liked this raised-edge stainless sink...not sure how practical it is (the stainless countertop of our own Ikea workspace scratches easily) but it sure is attractive.

On the more fun side, another kitchen display that they deemed the "kid's kitchen' included a kitchen table with an integrated aquarium.

Their kitchen spaces were interesting, but they showed more creativity regarding the laundry room. I especially liked this variation that turned the typical laundry room into more of an "activity room" worth spending time in. This seems like a pretty reasonable way to combine spaces--moving some things that might normally go into a home office and making time doing laundry more fun and/or productive.

Finally, I can't help but mention one funny experience we had while visiting the Electolux/Frigidaire booth. You always seem to see wacky concepts at these shows, so I at least had to ask to make sure this wasn't really a stove with a "trundle bed"-style set of burners. They assured me it wasn't--just for display purposes.
