InSinkErator used the 2006 KBIS expo to launch a full refresh of their main line: the Evolution Series.
The fun thing about the conference was that many companies bring lots of their key staff to these product launches. At the InSinkErator booth, we had a chance to talk with the product manager of the Evolution Series, who had been on the project for the last several years.
He walked us through the two major improvements his team had worked on: better grinding and less noise:

Beyond those enhancements across the line, InSinkErator also is introducing several models for specific applications. For the renovator and DIY audience, two models jumped out.
First, the Evolution Compact is designed for small spaces, and can fit in situations where the space under the sink isn't as large. Not revolutionary, but important none the less.
Second, and more unique, the Evolution Cover Control allows for installation where you don't want to or can't mount a traditional wall-based switch. Instead, the control is based directly in the drain and operated by a magnet in the drain cap--insert and twist the cap to turn the disposal on. As a safety precaution, the drain automatically stops if the cap is removed.

Not pictured, but important nonetheless? A model specially designed for homes with septic systems.
The Evolution will work its way into retail outlets this summer.
PS--Jeanne wanted me to make sure to mention that InSinkErator had one of the coolest press kits at the show...a metal clad booklet with an enclosed CD-ROM.
