With J being with child and all, our travel plans for this Christmas were greatly curtailed. Fine with us though...the week has been an exceptionally relaxing time to hang around the house, see friends, and do some cleaning and prep for the baby's arrival.
Our Christmas Eve involved watching a movie at home, but we spent a little time on the way back from the rental store driving around a few neighborhoods. Both of us grew up in families that would regularly drive around and check out the lights.
Here are some of the most 'lit up' ones we came across...

These folks get the Inclusive award, I think they've hit about every major holiday theme

Looks like these neighbors compete.

I don't know about where you live, but these blow up characters are more popular every year in Chicago. Not sure why, but they give me the creeps.
The award for the most dramatic and largest presentation we saw goes to these folks...sorry the photo is a bit blury, I don't think our camera knew what to do with so much light!

I agree about the oversized inflatable holiday characters. Somewhat creepy. And, yes, apparently they are popular everywhere. I live in West Virginia and have seen them all around. I was beginning to think it was one of those "southern things", but after visiting my friends in Cleveland I decided otherwise. Their neighbors had decided on the six-foot tall Scooby Doo with some of the smaller ones to keep Scoob company. Yikes!
Call me a Scrooge, but I think they are overpriced novelties that waste electricity!
