After shopping around for a year, we finally settled on getting our bathroom hardware at Pottery Barn.
For the longest time we were pretty set on something from Restoration Hardware, who offers a nice selection of period-appropriate lines and a sturdy build. The selection at other retailers was always either too modern (Expo), too cheaply built (Home Depot) or didn't fit the genre we were looking for (Pottery Barn in most cases, actually).
That said, the latest Pottery Barn bed + bath catalog arrived a few weeks ago and to our surprise we found they'd added the Sutro series at some point (pictured above).
Even better, they're currently offering a pretty good discount on the line right now and we happened to have a really old Pottery Barn gift certificate (from our wedding, I think).
The only bad news is that they're mail order only and back ordered by about a month. That said, they do offer a return policy if we've got any concerns once we actually get our hands on them.
As we've said before, it's just so nice to actually be getting to these finish-related decisions since it means we're so close to moving in to our new space...

Right. Just when you think you're done you will do what we did and buy another house to fix up! It's in the blood, you're addicted.....
The next one we buy will be to fix and sell though.

We just got the Lido set from Restoration Hardware. They're having a 30% sale until Sunday.

Gary...no way :) Aaron once made a reference that was along the lines of, "Well, on the NEXT house we have..." I raised an eyebrow and blurted out, "With your next wife? Because they are dragging my cold, stiff body out of this one." Hee. I think I'll stick to helping friends out after this one.

next one, next one, yeah right people say that to us too. I say I will be glad to help you find whatever you need help you lug plaster out in the black bags from Home depot, climb into attics not visited in 50yrs but I am never never never living through this again myself. clean bed feels so so so good.

Love the hardware you've picked out! Did I miss a recent shot of the bathroom?
I must admit, this will be our last fixer-upper. But that doesn't mean I'll be living here for the rest of my life, either. There are too many other things to enjoy (like a husband, three children, homeschooling, etc.) that are taking a back seat to all our improvements. I'll be glad when it's over! Then again, is it ever really over???

Pottery Barn does make some nice hardware, but their shipping policy is absurd. Their charges are based on the cost of the item, not on size or weight. And if I'm not mistaken, they also calculate shipping AFTER the tax is tacked on. Try going to the store to save on shipping, and you find that the price in the store is actually higher than the catalog. They call it the "in store price." I was going to buy a bedroom set from them, but the shipping was going to end up costing me hundreds of dollars. So I don't frequent Pottery Barn much anymore.

That hardware looks pretty modern to me...POPS -30-

POPS - Yeah, 'period appropriate' was probably not the right way to put it...our master bath shower certainly isn't period appropriate, either. 'Compliments our design' is probably what I actually meant.

We put Pottery Barn fixtures in our guest bath (they were the ones with the porcelain, I don't remember the name) and we are very pleased with them. The quaility is so much higher than anything you can get in the stores around here. However, I must say that the fixtures we purchased from Restoration Hardware for the master bath are even higher quality.

Nice stuff, y'all. Do they have that toilet paper holder in a European "hook" style instead of spring-loaded? If they do, I highly recommend it. I switched over to the hook style last year and they're just a lot easier to change out. You wouldn't think it would make that much of a difference, but around my household it does.
Incidentally, Overstock has great deals on bathroom hardware from time to time. Last year I bought two sets, both less than $60, that included a guest towel bar, a full-size towel bar, a bathrobe hook and a TP holder. One was porcealin and chrome and the other was brass with an oil-rubbed bronze finish. Really nice heavyweight stuff--not like what you see at Home Depot. I don't see much of interest on their Web site right now but they do get good stuff in every so often!

It goes well with the kind of boxy switchplates you showed last week. They are very clean and classic looking, which goes well w/ the room.
I know what you mean about "this is it". I couldn't do another house. There is so much we want to do to this place that we have enough to keep us occupied for years.
