This is about an idea we've got about our own future back porch, but it's also a testiment to the power of the networking among houseblogs, those who write them (and link to them), and the photo service flickr.
Recently we've been musing about our own back porch. Currently enclosed, we're thinking we'll open it up some day and make it more of a summer porch.
As for the design, we've been thinking that we can take a Prairie or Craftsman design to the concept. This would be consistent with the overall architecture of the house, but also a reflection of the front porch of a house down the street that's currently being renovated, too.
So it was a pleasure to see The Road to Amherst blog a photo originally posted by Hillsdale House that almost perfectly captures the design of the columns I'd been visualizing for our own design.
While it will likely be a while until we get to this project ourselves, it's nice to get such a nice visual confirmation of the idea we'd only had in our minds up until now.

Hi, thanks for the link :-) Also I love your notion of a separate "Ideas" section in your blog. Mine is all muddled up as I didn't want to switch from Blogger (it was so fiddly to set up the templates & hosting, I couldn't face doing it again!) and they, very annoyingly *still* don't have categories!

That looks like the style the people down my block are doing with their front porch, I guess it's popular.
