Our post the other day included our two planters in the photo and Harley asked for more information on where we got them...
They were an anniversary gift to ourselves shortly after we moved into our bungalow last spring. These pedestal urns are one of the few cosmetic improvements we have made during our first year of ownership. We put them on both sides of the front steps.
We bought them at Venture Statuary on Clark Street in Chicago.
They were recommended to us by the folks on the Chicago Bungalow discussion boards, and with good reason. Venture does their own work on site and they have quite a few styles of urns. We highly recommend checking them out if you're in the Chicago area and are in need of your own urns (or a scale model of Michelangelo's David for that matter).

Are those sweet peas? They're very pretty. I have a hard time finding varieties that grow well in containers. Do you know the variety name, and are they from seed or nursery?

I will shamelessly admit that they are your basic Lowe's pansies. They looked VERY good early on, failed a little in the cold snap, and are making a scrappy comeback. Brave little things.

Even still, they look lovely! I visit your site twice a day, everyday, but with my tiny 14" 'vintage' monitor, there's only so much detail I can make out. I suppose identification of various flora and fauna is best left unattempted to save embarrasment. I do however enjoy all of your adventures in your topsy turvy house; and as I am in my own adventure of our first year of marriage (last October, yipee!) and the roller coaster of buying our first home (a 1909 condo in Seattle's oldest neighborhood), your site has proved an inspiration for both.
Thank you!

Molly, I don't think it's your monitor :) I think the "scrappy pansies" look like a whole new type of flower!
Congrats on the wedding! Aaron moved into my 1929 vintage condo when we became married and it was a very sweet first home. It's a GREAT way to ease into home ownership and build your skills with less stress. As well as leave time for some fun!
