Mission Style Bed

This entry in the Idea Guide is one of the few things that we actually already have. It still merits an entry largely because of its influence as an insprational element in our design plans.

A wedding gift, getting a king-sized bed was pretty much a requirement for us giving my height. (Actually, J has been known to spread out a bit to in her sleep, but that's a different post for a different day... ) We were attracted to Room & Board's Mackintosh series because of its clean lines and sturdy construction. The frame is made of natural steel, lacquered in black that shows the character of the craftsmanship through slight variations in its finish.

Now that we have a Craftsman-style bungalow, the bed is a perfect compliment to the architectural detail of the house. As we're starting work on the master bedroom upstairs, we're trying to incorporate the strong visual statement the bed makes in to the overall room.
