Karna's Kitchen Idea

Category: Kitchen

I love getting mail through our old-timey mailbox slot.

We especially love getting mail from our far-away friends 'cause we miss them so much...Karna & Lukas, Liz & Jim, Dan & Kerry, Beth & Jim. (We adore getting mail from family, too. That's for another day.)

So when we opened a letter from Karna last week and this cool clipping fell out...well, it's like she was here to help us brainstorm about the kitchen.

The kitchen seems a long way off, but we have to plan for it now because our budget is fixed to the value of the house and our financial resources. So we tend to plan for things very far in advance when we can. Otherwise, we could run out of budget when there are still holes in the walls.

Why did we like Karna's Kitchen Idea so much?

The idea builds off of cabinets we already have (we would need to build our own matches for the cabinets with the countertop). Our built-in needs to be stripped and fixed, as well as the cabinets above the sink, but they look very similar to the cabinets in this photo.

We'd like to put glass in the doors like this. And we've seen that faucet around...we like the arch of it that lets you easily get larger things in and out of the sink.

Karna knows that J is fond of that color green...but the new kitchen will probably be white with Swedish blue and pale yellow accents :)

And we know that Karna would be digging that! Because she digs her own Swedish heritage (she has even met and spoken with Crown Princess Victoria!!)

She has also dedicated her life to pursuing social justice for people and making the world a better place.

She's an amazing gem, our Karna.
