Beadboard on a Vaulted Dormer Ceiling

Category: Bedroom

This photo depicts the beadboard we aspire to add to the ceiling in our master bedroom. While not strictly adhering to proper bungalow design, it's just an approach we really love.

First, the vaulted ceiling in the full-sized dormer helps since I'm particularly tall. Our ceilings are already above average height for a bungalow in Chicago, but a ceiling fan is at a dangerous level (think: decapitation...wait! Don't think about that.) We like that our vaulted ceiling allows us to have a ceiling fan and maintain a very open feel to the room.

Second, the beadboard helps to break up the normally antiseptic look of a typical vaulted ceiling. Once installed, the beadboard on our ceiling will provide a lot of interesting angles and help to make the room a warm (and somewhat quirky) space.
